Northern Territory Police have seized a significant quantity of cannabis and alcohol following a targeted operation at Wadeye Airport on Thursday 9 April 2026.
Police conducted screening of passengers on an incoming commercial flight from Darwin, resulting in the location and seizure of:
- Approximately 828 grams of cannabis in various quantities
- One 700ml bottle of rum and one 750ml bottle of rum
- Drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution
- A quantity of cash
Four people were arrested and conveyed to Wadeye Police Station. All four have since been charged with drug related offences and are set to face court at Wadeye on Wednesday, 29 April.
Acting Sergeant Ramazani Muzuri said "Targeted operations such as this are aimed at preventing these substances from entering our communities and reducing the associated harm."
"Police encourage anyone with information about drug or alcohol trafficking to contact police. Community information plays a vital role in preventing harm and keeping communities safe."
