A man has been charged after 54kg of cannabis leaf was allegedly seized during a vehicle stop on the Hume Highway in the Riverina yesterday.
About 3.05pm (Tuesday 14 April 2026), police attached to Riverina Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the Hume Highway, Tumblong, about 15km south-west of Gundagai.
The driver – a 30-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.
Police will allege that a search of the vehicle uncovered five large bags in the boot containing more than 54kg of cannabis leaf. Officers also seized a mobile phone, which will undergo forensic examination.
The man was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station.
He was charged with supply prohibited drug greater than or equal to commercial quantity.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 today (Wednesday 15 April 2026).
