Police officer assaulted; man charged at Blacktown

A man will face court tomorrow after he allegedly assaulted another man and bit a police officer in Blacktown overnight.

Just after midnight (Saturday 15 February 2020), officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command were told a 55-year-old man was allegedly attacked by another man with a beer bottle earlier in the evening in Blacktown's CBD.

The man, who had a 5cm laceration to his left check, was taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.

Following investigations, police arrested a man at Blacktown Railway Station.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he allegedly bit male Constable on the shoulder. He then allegedly verbally abused a female Sergeant.

The man was charged with reckless wounding, assault police officer in execution of duty and intimidate police officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 16 February 2020).
