Detectives from Boorondara Crime Investigation unit are appealing for public assistance as they investigate two linked incidents in Rosanna and Kew this month.
The first incident occurred at a business on Lower Plenty Road in Rosanna on 1 July.
Officers were told an unknown offender used a hammer to smash a glass window about 12.25am before fleeing the address on foot.
It is believed the same offender has then attended a business in High Street in Kew on 7 July.
Police have been told the offender used a hammer to smash a glass front door about 5.25am.
A bottle of accelerant was then thrown through the window before the offender fled on a bicycle.
The premises' were closed at the time of the incidents and no one was inside.
Detectives have released CCTV of the incidents in the hope someone may come forward with information.
