Police are investigating after a serious assault in the Illawarra region today, NSW Police say.
About 4.20pm today, police were called to a licensed venue on the Princes Highway, Kembla Grange.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and found a 42-year-old man had been assaulted at the location.
Police have been told the man became involved in an altercation when he was punched and fell to the ground, hitting his head.
NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the location and took the 42-year-old man to Wollongong Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have further information, is urged to contact Lake Illawarra police or Crime Stoppers.
