Police Pursuit Ends In Arrest At Clarence Gardens

A driver and passenger have been arrested following a police pursuit through the Adelaide CBD and southern suburbs overnight.

Just after 11pm on Saturday 3 October, police attempted to stop a Hyundai hatchback on Anzac Highway at Plympton however the driver refused.

Eastern District patrols shortly after sighted the Hyundai travelling through the CBD and initiated a short pursuit before losing sight of the vehicle.

About 11.30pm, Southern District patrols located the Hyundai on Goodwood Road at Clarence Gardens.

The vehicle was tracked through the southern suburbs towards Reynella and O'Halloran Hill, travelling through a number of intersections along South Road before police successfully spiked the vehicles tyres at Melrose Park.

The driver and passenger were arrested without incident a short time later. Checks revealed the Hyundai was stolen from a Mannum address in September.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Norwood, is expected to be charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, engaging in a police pursuit, traffic offences and other outstanding matters.

The passenger, a 48-year-old man from O'Halloran Hill, was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and possessing a controlled drug.

A decision regarding bail has not yet been made.
