Police responding to fatal motorcycle crash at Bilinga

A man has died following a motorcycle crash in Bilinga this afternoon.

Early investigations indicate the man was riding along the Gold Coast Highway in the south-bound lanes, past the Coolangatta Airport turn-off, when he crashed around 3pm.

A passing motorist came across the injured rider laying on the road, however the 36-year-old Southport man died at the scene a short time later.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dash-cam footage, who may have seen the 2015 Blue Yamaha WR450F with Queensland Registration 285SW riding along the motorway prior to and including the crash, to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate.
