Police responding to fatal single-vehicle crash at Warialda

A person has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's north west yesterday.

About 4.05pm (Tuesday 12 April 2022), emergency services responded to North Star Road, about 30km north westof Warialda, following reports of a crash.

Upon arrival officers attached to New England Police District and NSW Rural Fire Service found a red Mitsubishi sedan well alight in a creek.

A body was located inside and is yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, police urge any witnesses – including motorists with dashcam vision – in the areas of the Gwydir Highway, Yetman Road and North Star Road near Warialda to come forward and contact Inverell Police on (02) 6722 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
