Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Stony Creek 7 January

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that that occurred on the D'Aguilar Highway at Stony Creek this morning.

Initial investigations indicate a Landcruiser and Triton collided head on around 10.20am after the Triton swerved to avoid a traffic hazard.

The 51-year-old male driver of the Landcruiser from Glamorgan Vale suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 49-year-old female passenger from the Landcruiser was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A 52-year-old female driver of the Triton from Kidman Creek was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition.

A 58-year-old male passenger from the Triton was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.

A teenage boy who was a passenger in the Landcruiser was also transported to the Queensland Children's Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam vision to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
