Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Portsmith

A motorcyclist has died in Portsmith this morning, March 30.

Initial investigations indicate at approximately 8.30am, a motorbike rider hit a stationary utility at the intersection of Lyons Street and Ray Jones Drive.

The rider, a 69-year-old Trinity Beach man, was transported to Cairns Hospital with critical injuries where he later died.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision from the area to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
