Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Peak Crossing

Police are investigating after two children lost their lives in a single vehicle crash at Peak Crossing this afternoon.

Around 2.42pm it is believed a vehicle left Middle Road and struck nearby trees.

The female driver of the vehicle and a child were taken to hospital in a serious condition, two other children died at the scene.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing with officers appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash cam vision, to contact them.

Ethical Standards Command is investigating the involvement of police at a nearby static traffic enforcement site near the scene of the incident on behalf of the State Coroner with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission. That investigation will include reviewing body worn camera and dash cam footage and the forensic crash examination of the scene.
