Police responding to serious traffic crash at East Brisbane

A 38-year-old woman has been charged after a traffic crash in which a 51-year-old man suffered critical injuries at East Brisbane this morning (January 30).

At approximately 8.45am at Shafston Avenue near Wellington Road it will be alleged a Mitsubishi ASX has driven onto a footpath and struck a man riding an e-scooter.

The 51-year-old Birkdale man was transported in a critical condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A 38-year-old Pimpama woman, the alleged driver of the vehicle, was not physically injured.

She was taken into custody at the scene and allegedly returned a positive reading for drugs.

Following the incident, the Mitsubishi ASX was reported as stolen from an Everton Park address.

The 38-year-old woman has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drug driving while unlicenced, driving without a licence, possess drug utensils and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Her bail has been refused and she is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrate's Court tomorrow (January 31).
