Police search for boat missing near Wynyard

Police are seeking public information as significant resources search the Bass Strait between Wynyard and Rocky Cape for a 17ft Caribbean half cab vessel that has not returned from a trip yesterday afternoon with three passengers on board.

The yellow and white vessel entered the water around noon yesterday at the Wynyard Boat Ramp, anticipated to return in 3-4 hours. When the boat had not returned by 5.30pm concerned family members called emergency service for assistance.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has had contact with the three people on the boat since 3pm yesterday, or knows their intended movements or location. With permission from the families, police can advise that onboard the boat are Isaiah Dixon, Thomas Courto, and Bree-Anna Thomas, all from the West Coast.

Significant resources from Tasmania Police, AMSA, and Surf Life Saving; including multiple police vessels and aircraft from Victoria are currently searching for the boat.

Anyone with information that would assist the police investigation is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
