Police search for missing rock fisher at Kiama

A search is underway for a man feared swept off rocks while fishing at Kiama.

Family reported a 34-year-old man missing after he failed to return to his Fairfield home overnight.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District located the man's car this morning (Wednesday 16 March 2022), parked at Marsden Heads, south of the Kiama blowhole.

Police have confirmed the man was seen walking towards the rock ledge about midday yesterday (Tuesday 15 March 2022), and personal possessions have been found on the rocks.

A widespread search is now underway involving local police, Marine Area Command, PolAir, Marine Rescue NSW, and Surf Life Saving NSW.

It's unknown if the man was wearing a life jacket.
