Police seek help to find driver after pursuit - Cataract, near Wollongong

Police are searching for man after he fled from a car during a pursuit with police at Cataract near Wollongong yesterday.

Just before 6pm, (Tuesday 22 October 2019), an unmarked police vehicle was travelling south on the M1, when he noticed a Ford Falcon travelling in the same direction allegedly at high speed.

The officer activated lights and sirens and attempted to pull the car over, however, the vehicle accelerated, and a pursuit was initiated.

The Ford turned into Picton Road, lost control and collided with a safety barrier.

The driver fled the scene on foot, entering bushland and was pursued by the officer.

A perimeter was established, and the search was assisted by the Dog Unit and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit who launched a drone.

The man was unable to be located.

The man is described as being in his mid to late 30s, about 180cm tall with a thin build, brown hair and a fair complexion.

Investigations are continuing.
