Police seek information after act of indecency in front of young girl - Mosman

Officers from North Shore Police Area Command are searching for a man who performed a lewd act in front of a child at Mosman last week.

About 4.30pm (Wednesday 24 April 2019), a young girl was playing in the front yard of a home on Kirkoswald Avenue, Mosman, when a man – who was riding past on a pushbike – stopped to speak with her.

The man engaged the young girl in conversation before exposing himself and performing an act of indecency.

Shortly after the incident, the girl's mother came outside and saw the man speaking with her daughter. She approached him and spoke briefly with him before he rode away on his bike.

After he left, the girl disclosed the incident to her mother who then contacted police. A full investigation is now underway by officers from North Shore Police Area Command, assisted by officers from the State Crime Commands Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.

The man has been described as Caucasian in appearance, about 183cm tall with a lean build and aged in his late 60s or early 70s.

Police have been told the man had sun-damaged reddened/blotchy skin and was wearing a light-coloured helmet with grey hair coming out from underneath. At the time, he was wearing a dark green tracksuit jacket with a towel draped over his shoulder.

Anyone who may have information that could assist should contact police at Chatswood Police Station immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
