Police seek information after houseboat destroyed by fire at Moama

Police are investigating after a houseboat was destroyed by fire in the state's south yesterday.

About 2.50am (Wednesday 31 August 2022), emergency services were called to the Murray River, Moama, following reports a houseboat was on fire.

Upon arrival, the moored three-storey houseboat was found fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Victoria extinguished the blaze however, the houseboat was completely destroyed.

No one was on board at the time; there are no reports of injuries.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire, with the cause yet to be determined.
