Police seek information on Stolen vehicle and firearm in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a vehicle containing a firearm was stolen in Alice Springs earlier this week.

Sometime overnight on Tuesday, a blue Holden Trax was stolen from a location on Gregory Terrace. The vehicle contained various camping and hunting equipment, including a lever action rifle.

The vehicle was recovered abandoned yesterday afternoon, however, the camping and hunting equipment remains outstanding.

Superintendent Megan Blackwell said "Strike Force Viper are currently investigating".

"This incident is timely reminder for those who have firearms to ensure they are properly stored at all times. When not in use, a certified firearms safe should always be used to ensure opportunistic theft does not occur".

"Personal items, including keys, should be kept in a safe place and out of view, so as to be unlikely found".
