Police are appealing for information following a robbery with violence in Cosgrove early this morning.

Just after midnight a group of unknown people forced entry to an Outcrop Rise address and entered the residence, stealing a blue Ford Ranger.

During the burglary, the resident of the home approached the unknown group and was hit with a large knife, causing wounds to his hand and back.

The 28-year-old resident was transported to Townsville Hospital for treatment.

Approximately, an hour later, police were called to a Gilbert Crescent address following reports the alleged unknown people were attempting to steal another vehicle.

An unmarked police vehicle was the first to arrive at the scene and was rammed by an unknown driver in the stolen vehicle from the Outcrop Rise address.

Thankfully, no officers were injured in this incident.

Just before 4am, police sighted the stolen 4WD driving along Fulham Road and commenced a short pursuit.

The stolen vehicle began driving dangerously and allegedly drove on the incorrect side of the road. The police pursuit was terminated along Ross River Road after three minutes.

Police are appealing for anyone that may have CCTV or dashcam footage of any of the above incidents to contact police.

If you see this vehicle, do not approach, call triple zero.
