Police Seek Public Tips in New Town Murder Probe

Police are seeking public information as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder of a woman at New Town.

About 4pm on Saturday (17 May), a woman was located deceased within a residence on Lissadell Court, and on 18 May a 56-year-old man was charged with her murder.

Detective Inspector David Gill said, "Detectives from South East CIB are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the woman's death."

"As a result of investigations to date, we believe the woman was last alive around 18 March."

"As we work to form a timeline, we're seeking assistance from the public in relation to the women's movements prior to when she was located."

"With permission from the family, today we're releasing images of the woman from 18 March and ask anyone who has seen her since then to contact us."

"We believe the woman regularly attended the Glenorchy CBD and New Town areas, and we're asking that anyone who has seen her, assisted her, or had interactions with her, to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Nathan Hartnett at South East CIB on 131 444 and quote OR 805693.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers Tasmania at crimestopperstas.com.au or on 1800 333 000.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the woman.
