Nunawading Highway Patrol officers are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Forest Hill on Sunday.
It is believed the pedestrian was walking east on Jolimont Road when a dark coloured SUV accelerated towards him on 28 June just before 10pm.
Police have been told, shortly before the incident, the driver and motorist were involved in a verbal exchange about the victim's dog which was off lead.
The victim called out to the motorist to 'slow down' after it is believed the vehicle narrowly missed the dog.
The car struck the man as he approached the driver and then drove off, leaving him injured on the road.
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old St Albans man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the car is perceived as being Asian in appearance.
Investigators wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about the car or driver involved.
