Police seek witnesses - Serious Harm in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses after an assault in the Alice Springs CBD on Tuesday morning.

Between 4am and 5am, the female victim was in a carpark in the CBD, when she was allegedly assaulted by a male who is believed to be known to her.

The woman suffered a broken jaw in the assault and was airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital for surgery.

Detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Marcus Becker said "Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has relevant information, is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 10168003.

"If you or someone you know are experiencing domestic or family violence, support services are available including, but not limited to 1800RESPECT (1800737732) or Lifeline 131 114."
