Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit are investigating a serious assault that occurred in the vicinity of the Rocklands Drive, Tiwi in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A 28-year-old female was allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon while walking along the footpath in the area. She remains in the Royal Darwin Hospital receiving treatment for a punctured left lung.
The woman is believed to have been assaulted by a man who was known to her.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident, particularly if you have dash-cam footage, to make contact on 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference 10434334.
