Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a structure fire in Humpty Doo yesterday afternoon.
A neighbour reported the incident after observing the property engulfed in flames. Tragically, during the internal search firefighters located a body.
A crime scene was declared and members from Major Crime are working to identify the person.
NT Fire and Rescue Service investigators and NT Police Crime Scene Examiners have returned to the scene this morning to continue to determine how the fire started.
NT Police Detective Senior Sergeant Jak Evans said, "Anyone who has information in relation to the fire or witnessed anything suspicious in the area is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 9945993."
