Police seek witnesses to assault and robbery in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to two incidents in which two people were assaulted in the Alice Springs CBD area at the weekend.

The first incident occurred just before 5:30am on Sunday, in which a team of workers in a car park on Railway Terrace were approached by a group of youth asking for cigarettes.

It is alleged one of the youth physically assaulted one of the men before stealing the man's cigarettes and running off towards a nearby service station.

The second incident occurred shortly after on Bath Street in which a man was walking towards a fast food restaurant on Railway Terrace around 5:40am.

The man was approached by a male youth who allegedly demanded money and cigarettes before physically assaulting him before fleeing the scene.

Strike Force Viper are investigating both incidents and are calling for witnesses, motorists with dash-cam or anyone who may have information which may assist in identifying the offender, to contact police on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersnt.com.au.
