Police seek witnesses to South Melbourne stabbing

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in South Melbourne last week.

It's believed a 32-year-old Fitzroy man was involved in an altercation with four men near the intersection of Dorcas Street and Clarendon Street on Wednesday, 29 December about 4.15pm.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries requiring surgery.

Detectives have released images of four men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The four men detectives are keen to identify are described as being African in appearance and aged between 20 and 25-years-of age.

The first man was wearing black "Nike" track pants and a black "Raiders" jumper.

The second man was wearing a grey tracksuit jumper and grey track pants.

The third man was wearing grey track pants and a black "Nike Air" jumper.

The fourth man was wearing a grey Nike jumper with a black and beige "North Face" puffer jacket over the top.
