Police seek witnesses to woman assaulted in South Yarra

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses as they continue to investigate an assault in South Yarra on Saturday 13 March.

It's believed a male assaulted the victim as she walked along Barry Street, before stealing her shopping trolley containing personal items about 6.15am.

The victim, a 78-year old South Yarra woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The trolley was located by police in a nearby street with the personal items intact.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of a male they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The male is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a thin build, dark coloured hair, moustache and wearing a brown t-shirt, dark coloured pants and shoes.
