Northern Territory Police are investigating the death of man at Milikapati on the Tiwi Islands today.
About 10.40am this morning St John Ambulance received a call though the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre (JESCC) reporting that a 59-year-old male had been assaulted by another male and was unconscious.
Staff from the local clinic attended and CPR was performed but the man was declared deceased at the scene.
A person of interest was identified and Police officers from Pirlangimpi and Wurrumiyanga, who were called out to provide assistance with the community, were informed.
On their way to Milikapati, officers from Wurrumiyanga located the 31-year-old person of interest and he has been arrested and taken into custody.
