Police treating fire as suspicious, Great Keppel Island

Detectives are appealing for public assistance following two suspicious fires on Great Keppel Island yesterday afternoon.

Around 3pm a fire started in one of the unoccupied employee accommodation buildings of the former Great Keppel Island Resort. The fire completed destroyed the building.

A short time later a fire started in a neighbouring building, causing extensive damage.

Investigators believe the fires were deliberately lit and are appealing for anyone in the area or on Fisherman's Beach between 3pm and 5.30pm, who may have vision or photos of the area to contact police.

Forensic and arson investigators are processing the fire scene today.
