Police Update 1: Operation Xray Gaston

Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) Far North have charged and additional five people with drug offences as part of Operation Xray Gaston.

Xray Gaston is an intelligence driven and targeted drug operation that aims to detect, deter and disrupt the illegal drug trade in the Cairns area.

Officer in Charge of the Major and Organise Crime Squad Far Northern Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace said the disruption of the illegal drug trade that negatively impacts our community is one of the priorities of the Queensland Police Service.

"Illegal drug activity not only affects the individual but the wider community with families being impacted by this scourge in our society.

"We encourage any member of the public that has information to offer police about this criminal activity to come forward and rest assured it will be acted on," said Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace.

A 46-year-old Earlville man was charged with 46 counts of supply dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possess dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, and possess utensil.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 12.

A 25-year-old Cairns woman was charged with one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 25.

A 71-year-old Edge Hill man was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.

He was issued a drug diversion.

A 39-year-old Manunda woman was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.

She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 17.
