Police update 2: Armed Robbery, Durack

Detectives have charged a 26-year-old man following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a woman at Durack last month.

Police will allege at approximately 7.30am on April 15, a 30-year-old woman was walking on Outlook Place when approached by a man armed with a knife, forced to the ground, and had her handbag and phone stolen.

He allegedly fled the scene in, a dark coloured Ford Falcon station allegedly involved in a fuel drive off from a service station at Johnson Road, Hillcrest about an hour before the robbery took place.

The station wagon was fitted with alleged stolen registration plates.

Investigations led detectives to identify the 26-year-old man and a search warrant executed at a Leichardt address where they located some property connected to the alleged robbery.

Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch, Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant, Michael Manago said the arrest is an example of great police work and reflects our ongoing commitment to community safety.

The 26-year-old man was remanded in custody, charged with armed robbery, stealing and disqualified driving and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court later today.
