Police update: Appeal after violent assaults, Moreton and Sunshine Coast

A man and woman have been arrested today following ongoing investigations into two alleged violent offences committed in the Moreton and Sunshine Coast districts.

On February 19 police attended an address on Beagle Avenue in Banksia Beach following reports of a disturbance at around 4.30pm.

A 40-year-old man was located with a serious head injury after allegedly being punched and kicked by another man known to him.

He was transported to Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 38-year-old Bellara man and a 38-year-old woman were taken into custody today at a property in Yandina at 12.30pm today by specialist police and detectives.

The man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and threats.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The 38-year-old woman is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations remain ongoing as to whether this matter is linked to another incident on February 20 where a group of teenagers were approached by a man and allegedly threatened with a machete at Coochin Creek.
