Police update: Armed robberies arrest at Gladstone

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy in relation to a string of alleged stealing offences, including two armed robberies in Gladstone on June 28 and July 4.

On June 28, a driver was parked at a shopping centre taxi rank on Shaw Street, New Auckland around 1.40pm when the boy allegedly entered the vehicle, threatened the male driver with a knife, and demanded money.

The victim handed over a sum of cash and was not physically injured.

Then on July 4, the boy allegedly entered a Chapman Drive shop around 4.20pm and threatened a female staff member with a knife before demanding a sum of cash from the register and fleeing the scene.

It will also be alleged the 17-year-old boy stole a quantity of liquor from a business on Shaw Street on June 23 and 27, and a business on the Dawson Highway in Kin Kora on June 24.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery, three counts of stealing and one count of enter with intent.

He is due to appear at Gladstone Children's Court at a later date.
