Police update: Armed robbery charges, Sunnybank Hills

Police have charged a 17-year-old Algester boy following an alleged armed robbery at a jewellery store in Sunnybank Hills on May 31.

It will be alleged at approximately 11.30pm, a hammer was used to break into a Calam Road business and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

A 58-year-old Marsden man, who was working nearby at the time, was allegedly threatened with a hammer during the incident.

He was not physically injured.

Detectives from Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) arrested a 17-year-old boy at an Algester property today, June 6.

He has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, enter premises and commit indictable offence and serious assault police officer.

The boy is due to appear at Richlands Childrens Court at a later date.
