Police update: Augustine Heights assault attempted kidnapping charge

Ipswich detectives have arrested and charged a man with the alleged attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old boy at Augustine Heights on November 14.

A 34-year-old Bellbird Park man has been charged with one count each of attempted kidnapping, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and possess a drug utensil.

He has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 22).

Media release issued November 14: – police will allege the following

Police investigating the serious assault of a 16-year-old boy in Augustine Heights this morning, are appealing for public assistance.

At around 9.30am, the boy was walking along Augusta Parkway when a black sedan stopped behind him.

A man got out of the vehicle, approached the boy and placed his arm around his neck.

He held a knife to the boy's neck and threatened him before a struggle ensued.

A number of witnesses stopped to render assistance and the man returned to his car and drove away.

Officers are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to please contact them.

Investigations are continuing.
