Police update: Concern for welfare - Kakadu

Northern Territory Police are continuing to search for 35-year-old Jessica Louise Stephens, who is believed to be missing around Nourlangie Rock, Kakadu.

Search operations in the vicinity of Nourlangie Rock commenced yesterday morning, with further resourcing deployed from Darwin and arriving in Jabiru overnight.

The search involves 22 Kakadu National Park Rangers and 10 Police officers, utilising quad bikes, motorbikes and 2 helicopters.

Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Langdon said "This operation remains a search and rescue with items collected yesterday suggesting that Jessica was mobile as early as yesterday morning.

"Temperatures in the area are forecasted to reach 41 degrees, and the terrain in Kakadu is unforgiving. However, we have multiple assets deployed into the area and we remain hopeful that we will find Jessica safe and well."
