Police update: Firearm recovered in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have recovered the firearm stolen from a vehicle in Alice Springs earlier this week.

The lever action rifle was recovered yesterday afternoon near bushland in Alice Springs.

Strike Force Viper investigations are ongoing and at this stage no arrests have been made.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Robert Kent said "The Southern Community Resilience and Engagement Command team did a fantastic job in locating the stolen firearm.

"Investigations into the theft continue and the owner of the firearm has been issued with a NTA for failing to meet storage requirements."
