Police update: Missing man at Groper Creek

Police are continuing to coordinate the search for a man reported missing at Groper Creek yesterday afternoon.

Three men were on a boat on Groper Creek when it crashed near a jetty close to Hinkson Esplanade around 5.35pm.

Two men were ejected from the boat due to the impact of crash. One of the men was quickly recovered from the water with a head wound.

The second man, a 35-year-old local remains unaccounted for.

Police commenced a search and rescue operation with the assistance of Burdekin VMR, as vehicular access to the area is restricted.

Water police, swift water rescue crews and two helicopters are continuing to assist with the search which is ongoing.

Yesterday, one helicopter transported the injured man for treatment while the another remained to search for the missing man.
