Police update: Serious assault at Noosa Heads

Police have charged two men following a brawl at Noosa Heads on New Year's Eve which left a man with serious head injuries.

It will be alleged that a fight occurred between a group of men in a car park near Noosa Parade around 11pm.

A 20-year-old Lake McDonald man was assaulted during the altercation and sustained serious injuries as a result.

He was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital before being flown to Brisbane for further treatment.

Ongoing investigations led to two men being charged this afternoon over the matter. It is alleged the men are all known to each other.

A 20-year-old Bracken Ridge man was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm and possession of dangerous drugs.

A 19-year-old Tewantin man was charged with grievous bodily harm.

Both are due to face Noosa a Magistrates Court on January 28.

Investigations are continuing.
