Police Update: Sexual Assault Charges, Brookfield

Detectives from the Ferny Grove Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in Brookfield yesterday morning, 20 August.

It will be alleged around 6:33am, a woman in her 20s was walking along Brookfield Road, approaching the Brookfield Road bridge, before she was stopped by an unknown man and assaulted.

Following extensive investigations, officers located a 32-year-old Raceview man a short distance away on Moon Lane yesterday afternoon, and took him into custody.

He has since been charged with six counts of rape and one count each of stalking, assault with intent to commit rape, assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 21 August.

Detectives and specialist police will remain deployed throughout the Brookfield area, with local general duties officers conducting increased patrols to ensure community safety over the coming days.

Investigations remain ongoing.
