The Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) is urging more victims to come forward following the arrest and charging of a 27-year-old man after he allegedly made thousands of threatening phone calls.
It is alleged that starting on 19 June this year, the 27-year-old made over 12,000 calls to numbers within Australia, allegedly targeting women and making sexual threats.
The matter was reported to the NTPF on 29 July after the number was identified as being located in Alice Springs, with Southern Investigations taking carriage of the matter.
The 27-year-old man was identified and arrested yesterday, and his mobile phone was seized.
He has since been charged with five counts of Using a Carriage Service to Harass, Menace, or Cause Offence (Commonwealth), and was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
