Port Kennedy Bushfire Arrest

Officers from the Arson Squad have charged a 25-year-old man in relation to a bushfire that occurred in Scientific Park located at the intersection of Port Kennedy Drive and Bayside Boulevard in Port Kennedy on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

It will be alleged the accused established a temporary campsite in the park and about 3.45pm, ignited a campfire. Due to strong winds at the time, the fire quickly spread to surrounding vegetation resulting in a bushfire.

Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) attended the scene. Several DFES crews and a Helitak were able to extinguish the fire, which burnt approximately one hectare of bushland.

A 25-year-old Kalamunda man has been charged with:

• One count of Breach of Duty

He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today, 17 November 2025. This offence carries a maximum penalty of 15 years' imprisonment.
