Excellent work by members of the Public Order Response Team Police has resulted in the arrest of an Alfredton man for an outstanding warrant and alleged drugs offences.
Officers were patrolling Port Melbourne as part of Operation Summersafe about 8.15pm Saturday night when they were called to attend Beach Street to check a vehicle.
When they arrived they noticed a man tampering with the registration plates of a white Ford Falcon.
They approached the man, spoke to him and found that he had an outstanding warrant.
He was arrested, the car checked and it was found that the registration plates on the vehicle were false.
Members searched the car and it is alleged that they found a traffickable quantity of drugs including methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroin, cannabis and cash.
The man was taken to a nearby police station and is currently assisting police with their enquires.
