Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) will continue the pre-booked bulky rubbish collection service until June 2028 for residents with a two or three bin service.
Councillors adopted the decision at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 26 May 2026.
Dubbo Regional Council Director Development and Environment said the pre-booked bulky rubbish collection has received positive feedback from residents who have used the service and has helped to divert waste from landfill by being able to separate recyclable materials from non-recyclable.
"With the pre-booked bulky rubbish collection now extended, Council will continue promoting the service to the community, while the Customer Experience team remains available to assist residents with booking a collection if needed," Mr Jennings said.
Residents can place up to one box-trailer of rubbish on the kerbside the Sunday before their booked collection date. A collection cannot be conducted without a booking.
Council will now investigate and implement having tipping vouchers and bulky rubbish collection services as interchangeable. This would mean instead of residents having one tipping voucher and one bulky rubbish collection service, they could opt to have two tipping vouchers or two bulky rubbish collection services.
The annual tipping voucher program and pre-booked bulky rubbish collection service will continue to operate as normal until Friday 31 July 2026 before any changes to the program regarding interchangeable vouchers.
The pre-booked bulky rubbish collection has been operating for the past two years with 5,765 collections made through the service.
