Premier must explain broken ambulance promise to King Islanders

At the 2024 election, the Liberals promised King Island an upgraded ambulance service, including two community paramedics.

Two and a half years later, there are no community paramedics and no ambulance station. The construction tender has only just gone out, and the Premier is flying in for a photo opportunity.

The island's volunteer paramedics do a terrific job in difficult circumstances, but they are still waiting for the facilities the Liberals promised them.

King Islanders deserve straight answers today.

  • When will the promised paramedics arrive?
  • When will the ambulance station finally open?
  • How will Eric Abetz's $700 million in health cuts hit King Island?

While he's there, the Premier can also explain his plan to halve face-to-face hours at the Currie Service Tasmania centre.

For a community this far from major services, these cuts are more than an inconvenience. Regional Tasmanians are being asked to pay the price for 13 years of Liberal waste.

The Premier should stop dragging his feet and deliver the ambulance service King Island was promised.
