- Seventeen international students awarded scholarships from the Premier in 2025
- Recipients share in $640,000 to study at WA's world-class institutions
- International education helping to diversify the economy so it remains strongest in the nation
Seventeen high-achieving international students have commenced their studies in Western Australia in 2025 after being awarded scholarships from the Premier.
Through the annual Western Australian Premier's University Scholarship (WAPUS) Program, $50,000 will be provided to support study expenses for two international students enrolled at each of WA's five universities.
Seven one-off payments of $20,000 will also be made available to international students through the Western Australian Premier's Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Bursary, helping to offset living, travel and study costs.
Recipients have completed the WACE curriculum at one of the State's international partner schools before transitioning to university studies in WA.
These scholarships reflect the Cook Government's commitment to attracting top global talent, boosting WA's research and innovation capability, and supporting the development of a highly skilled workforce.
International education continues to be a major contributor to the WA economy, delivering a record $3.7 billion in 2024 and strengthening the cultural diversity of local communities.
The 2025 scholarship cohort represents a diverse range of countries and fields of study.
Together, they reinforce Western Australia's reputation as a leading study destination and support a strong pipeline of skilled professionals who will contribute to the State's future.
