Pride street party returns to Yarra in 2023

Yarra City Council is thrilled with the Victorian Government's announcement to continue the Pride street party in the City of Yarra in 2023.

Minister for Equality, the Hon. Harriet Shing, announced the street party would return to Collingwood and Fitzroy in February 2023, again featuring live performances from artists and a celebration of LGBTQIA+ arts and culture.

Acting Mayor, Cr Edward Crossland said Council strongly supports the continuation of the Pride street party.

"We are thrilled to hear that the Pride street party will continue to be held in the City of Yarra," he said.

"Yarra has a rich history supporting and advocating for LGBTQIA+ communities, and we're so excited to learn that Yarra will continue to host this fabulous event. Hosting the pride party helps demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion."

The inaugural street party was held in Collingwood and Fitzroy in February 2022 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria. The event attracted more than 30,000 people and was a huge success for local businesses.
