Warragul Leisure Centre will trial three priority mobility car parking spaces over a 12-month period beginning next week.
The trial, which is scheduled to commence Tuesday 5 August 2025, weather permitting, will make use of existing parallel parking spaces located closest to the main Leisure Centre entrance.
Over the trial period, the use of these three car parking spaces should be reserved for patrons who are experiencing limited mobility due to age, injury or temporary health conditions and who are wishing to attend the Leisure Centre to support their fitness, well-being and injury recovery.
The mobility car parking spaces will feature teal stencil markings and two-hour parking limit signs will be displayed.
Since the construction of the new stadium, there has been an increase in the use of the Warragul Leisure Centre car parking areas.
"These new spaces are intended to support people with limited mobility," says Baw Baw Shire Councillor Suzanne Allen.
"While it is wonderful to see more people enjoying these local sporting facilities, patrons with limited mobility have experienced some difficulty in obtaining parking spaces closer to the Warragul Leisure Centre entrance.
"We want everyone to feel welcome and confident to make the most of the great facilities here at the Warragul Leisure Centre."
The three priority mobility car parking spaces are in addition to the four disability car parking spaces at the front of the Warragul Leisure Centre and the four disability car parking spaces adjacent to the stadium.
Councillor Allen welcomes the trial, "these parking spaces aim to make the Warragul Leisure Centre more inclusive and accessible for all users."
"This is a trial and community feedback will help determine whether these spaces should be a permanent fixture moving forward. I encourage all visitors to the Centre to have their say as part of our community engagement."
