Sarah Hosking, currently Chief Executive of National Breast Cancer Foundation, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Cancer Council NSW.
Professor Hosking has led National Breast Cancer Foundation since 2016, during which time she has overseen substantial growth and innovation in its breast cancer research mission, with the NBCF winning multiple awards including the FIA's NSW Fundraising Organisation of the Year and Your Voice Survey's Employer of Choice on multiple occasions.
In announcing Sarah's appointment, Cancer Council NSW Board Chair Mark Phillips said:
"Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the CEO role at Cancer Council NSW. Her proven leadership capabilities, extensive knowledge of the health sector, and existing stakeholder relationships provide a strong foundation for Sarah to continue to promote the operational and strategic direction of Cancer Council NSW.
"We look forward to welcoming Sarah to the Cancer Council team and watching her make the role her own."
Professor Hosking said that she is thrilled with the announcement and is excited to take on the challenge of leading NSW's largest cancer charity.
"I have watched the outstanding work of Cancer Council NSW for many years, and I'm absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to become part of such an exceptional team doing important work to improve the lives of people with cancer."
Mr Phillips also thanked Jeff Mitchell for his leadership during his five year tenure as Chief Executive, as well as his almost two years on the Board previously.
"On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Jeff for everything he has achieved for Cancer Council NSW and, most importantly, for the tremendous difference he has made to people in NSW impacted by cancer. Jeff has been a marvellous leader of our organisation. One of the legacies that Jeff will leave us with is a very strong and deep leadership team, which will stand Cancer Council in very good stead in coming years."
Professor Hosking will join Cancer Council NSW on Monday 13 December 2021, with outgoing Chief Executive Jeff Mitchell staying in his role until then to ensure a smooth transition.
