Property crime in Katherine

Northern Territory Police have charged two youths who allegedly stole a vehicle in Katherine and took it for a joyride to Darwin.

Police allege that around 4.30am Monday 18 January, two youths aged 15 and 17 allegedly unlawfully entered and stole property from a business in Katherine including a Toyota Rav 4.

Police further allege the youths then drove the vehicle to Darwin, stealing fuel from a business in Malak before being apprehended in Moulden.

A 15-year-old male was charged with:

• 1 X damage property

• 1 X aggravated unlawful entry

• 2 X stealing

• 1 X aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle

A 17-year-old male was charged with:

• 1 X damage property

• 1 X aggravated unlawful entry

• 2 X stealing

• 1 X aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle

• 1 X drive motor vehicle whilst unlicensed

Both have been bailed to appear in the Katherine Youth Court at a later date.
